Mission

Yin with Mir aims to provide students with tools to move through daily life with more ease and compassion, and to share those feelings with others in their communities.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin yoga is a slow practice that restores your mind and body. In each class we:

  • Hold poses for longer period of time resolving to remain still

  • Deeply stretch fascia tissues to improve flexibility and release tension

  • Practice meditative and breathing techniques for physical, mental and emotional support

Benefits of practicing yin yoga

  • improve mindfulness & flexibility

  • reduce stress & anxiety

  • feel more calm, balance & rest

  • better respond to life's challenges (work, interpersonal, daily obstacles)

Yin Yoga is especially beneficial to anyone with an abundance of yang energy (fast-paced, ambitious, "go go go" mentality, rapid thoughts) which can feel consuming and exhausting in excess. Whether you are experiencing stress or need an hour of self-care, embrace a quiet moment to yourself with this therapeutic practice.

Values

To embrace active rest. Set your mentality on airplane mode. Take a moment to relax your body, calm your mind and process your emotions. Allow yourself to let go of any tension.

To allow deep listening. Listen to what your body and inner dialogue are communicating to you. Observe your thoughts and the emotions that follow. Build awareness of what no longer serves you.

To calm the nervous system. Learn how to self-soothe and deactivate your fight or flight stress response as needed. Navigate life's challenges more thoughtfully, make better decisions, live life lighter. Harness the power of your breath.

To be patient with the practice. The work on the mat is only the beginning. Explore the tools and techniques that work for you and come back to them throughout daily life. Yoga is a practice of remembering that everything is a practice. It is always possible to begin again.
